Laser removal of varicose veins
The Hilu
Medical Centre possesses the
latest equipment for the removal
of small and medium size
varicose veins: the laser ND-YAG
Coolglide® from the platform
Cutera Xeo®.
This laser,
as well as being very effective
in the depilation of areas where
the hair is profuse and deep
rooted, is one of the most
powerful lasers in the market
for the removal of small
varicose veins, including
vascular spiders and
telangiectasias, in the face as
well as the body, and also of
medium size varicose veins,
including reticular veins. In
fact, this is the only laser in
the market capable of removing
this type of varicose veins,
which are deeper under the skin
and require greater penetration
of the light beam. On the other
hand, the skin over the varicose
veins is protected from possible
damage by the cooling system
integrated in its head.
Among the
treatment techniques used in
medicine to remove varicose
veins, the most important are
sclerotherapy, cryosclerosis,
laser therapy, pressotherapy,
hydrotherapy, ozone therapy,
lymphatic drainage and
ultrasound.
To respond to
the needs of our patients and
the required flexibility CMH has
the most technologically
advanced laser platform in the
market for the removal of small
and medium size varicose veins:
the laser ND-YAG Coolglide®
and the platform Cutera Xeo®.
Laser CUTERA
The procedure
can be carried out without
anaesthesia or with only topical
anaesthesia (by applying a cream
30 to 60 minutes before the
treatment) In contrast with the
procedure of chemical sclerosis
of the varicose veins (the
injection of a substance) it is
not necessary to use compression
afterwards.
In all
treatments of superficial
varicose veins it is advisable
to carry out a previous study of
the deep venous system of the
legs, either with Eco-Doppler or
phlebography. The presence of an
obstructive problem in that
system indicates that the
removed superficial veins will
continue to reappear until the
problem is solved.
SCLEROTHERAPY OR THE USE OF
INJECTIONS FOR THE TREATMENT OF
VARICOSE VEINS
This form of treatment is very
effective when applied to small
calibre veins, which cannot be
felt, do not stick out and do
not produce lumps. They should
be less than three millimetres
in diameter known as “vascular
spiders”, “rocket explosion”
veins, telangiectasias, o
venulectasias, which are
generally treated for cosmetic
reasons using injections or
phlebosclerosis.
By means of a
very small needle a medicine or
sclerosant agent mixed with a
local anaesthetic, is introduced
into the small vein, thus
producing an inflammation of the
walls of the vein.
After repeating this
procedure two or three times,
the walls of the small vein
become fused, thus stopping the
flow of blood and. making it
disappear.
Sclerotherapy is a very safe
procedure.
CRYOSCLEROSIS
This is a
therapeutic method consisting in
injecting a chemical substance
at very low temperature into the
vein. The objective is to
eliminate the varicose vein by
burning it with extreme cold,
and it is useful in the small
capillaries (telangiectasias)
that are resistant to chemical
sclerosis. This is done by the
use of a special syringe, which
has two compartments, one that
contains the therapeutic
substance, which can stand
temperatures of –40º C, and the
other which holds the carbonic
snow, thus allowing the chemical
product to achieve and maintain
this temperature. One of the
advantages of this kind of
therapy is that it can be
carried out at any season,
provided that direct exposure to
the sun is avoided.
PRESSOTHERAPY
Pressotherapy
has advanced to the point that
it encourages the venous return.
By massaging the lymphatic and
circulatory systems it produces
lymphatic drainage, activating
both systems and preventing the
formation of varicose veins.
LYMPHATIC
DRAINAGE
Lymphatic
drainage is a therapeutic
technique used in various
medical fields as it stimulates
the lymphatic system and the
venous return.
In the last
few years Phlebology, (the
branch of medicine which deals
with venous circulatory
problems, and therefore with
varicose veins) has acquired
numerous non-conventional
techniques for the treatment of
varicose veins, which give the
specialist the opportunity, not
only of curing the disorder, but
also of achieving the best
cosmetic results when treating
varicose veins.
