PLASTIC AND COSMETIC
SURGERY > Facelifts |
|
A facelift
consists in removing wrinkles in
the skin, from a man or a woman,
using surgery. This is achieved
by stretching the skin and
removing the excess, produced by
different factors, such as the
passing of time or significant
weight loss. The desired effect
of the lifting is the
rejuvenation of the person’s
appearance. Lifting surgery can
be accompanied by other cosmetic
surgery such as liposuction if
it is necessary to remove excess
fat, or the tensing of the
muscles underneath the treated
area (sub-muscular lifting) with
the purpose of obtaining better
results. The surgeon will
evaluate in every patient the
desirability of carrying out
other surgery to achieve the
required results.
BEFORE |
AFTER |
The
techniques employed nowadays
differ greatly from those used
some years ago, when the only
aim was to stretch the skin, At
present, more emphasis is placed
on the repositioning of the
internal structures, which, with
time, have fallen and become
flaccid. This produces a more
natural and harmonious effect.
ANAESTHESIA
The
anaesthesia used is normally
local combined with sedation, so
that the patient is relaxed and
does not feel pain. During the
intervention the anaesthetist
will take care of your wellbeing
at all times as your health is
our primary consideration. In
more complex cases general
anaesthesia is used.
DURATION
OF THE OPERATION
The operation
can be carried out as an
outpatient or inpatient
depending on the complexity of
the technique to be used in each
patient.
RECOVERY
The recovery
is rapid and the postoperative
period is easily tolerated,
since the discomfort produced by
the operation is not severe.
Even so, the surgeon will
recommend you not to carry out
activities requiring physical
effort during the first days
following the operation. The
majority of patients can return
to their usual tasks after a
week.
The effect of
the operation can be seen
immediately, although there is
some inflammation, which will
last 2 to 3 months. To maintain
the good result it is advisable
to use complementary medical and
cosmetic treatments.
